Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

This is not massage! MLD uses light manual techniques to achieve very powerful results by increasing the rate of lymph flow. 

MLD is based on the techniques developed by Dr. Emil Vodder, Ph.D., MT in France in the 1930's for treatment of swollen lymph nodes. When skillfully applied, this therapeutic form of soft-tissue mobilization dramatically enhances lymph formation and promotes drainage within the superficial and deep systems of the lymph vascular network.

What's it good for?

• Effectively reduces traumatic and post-surgical edema (swelling) and development of scare tissue
• Decreases edema in pregnancy
• Can provide symptomatic relief of migraine headaches, concussions, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, acne, sinusitis, hair loss, and fatigue
• Induces general relaxation thus reducing anxiety and harmful responses to stress
• Boosts overall immune function
• Promotes detoxification of harmful substances in our bodies
• Decreases effects of aging 
• And more as current research continues to find other benefits of MLD such as with Alzheimer's and other neurological diseases

In a nutshell, all this means is that one may experience better sleep, more relaxation, increased energy, less pain and illness so one looks and feels better inside and out!  

Please note that my training thus far does NOT yet qualify me to work with clients with Lymphedema or post plastic surgical procedures.

Therapeutic Healing Massage

Each session will be tailored to your needs as we work together to tap into your body's innate healing power and may consist of a combination of the following modalities.

• Swedish Massage:  Long gliding strokes, friction, kneading and tapping movements on the soft tissues of the body used to promote circulation and relaxation.
• Myofascial Release: a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.
• Reflexology:  Application of massage and different types of pressure to the feet and hands to achieve various health benefits

Elder Massage

 Health conditions and individual needs are taken into account to insure a safe, beneficial, and enjoyable massage for our elders.

Prenatal Massage 

Positioning and techniques are adjusted to meet the needs of the mother-to-be.

Hot Stone Massage  75 min ~ $150

Heated, basalt stones are used to create a relaxing, gentle and effective full body treatment.

Treatment Enhancements:

Add the following to any Bodywork Session and get that little extra pampering you need.

     Aromatherapy (Complementary) Choose from a variety of essential oils to enhance your healing experience.

       Hot Towels (Complementary) Add hot towels to any session to add that extra ahhhh!

     Hot Stones  ($15)  Melt away muscle tension from identified areas with the soothing heat of Basalt Stones. (fewer and less extensive use of stones than the full Hot Stone Massage)
